The AccountAbility Forum is AccountAbility's annual event, that bring together our core network to both influence the future of the work we do together and to cross fertilize ideas amongst the network.
2008 was the Forum's first year. The event brought together around 60 participants, representing AccountAbility's most active and valued partners, from the 5 continents. The participants came together with AccountAbility's executive team in one and a half days of intense discussion to help AccountAbility improve its governance, strategy and performance.
Over the course of the event people were invited to focus on AccountAbility's four strategic focus areas in a series of sessions designed to enable cross-learning, as well as more focused planning.
Each one was requested to join one core group, on the basis of each one's individual expertise and relationship with AccountAbility. However people also joined others in sessions to enable cross-network learning and identification of opportunities for collaboration.
Over the course of the event participants also had the chance to record their recommendations and insights in shared feedback from discussions, individual video interviews, surveys and evaluations and 'big picture' maps created during the Forum.
We were pleased that the AccountAbility Forum was not a conventional conference but an active working meeting of a network, in which every participant had a role to play in helping us to focus our activities and impacts clearly on the goal of advancing accountability for sustainable development.
